Hello,

I noticed some undefined index errors showing up in my logs surrounding line 471 of youtube-channel.php inside the height_ratio function:

$height = $instance['height'];

The problem is that `$instance` isn't passed to this function nor is it brought in through the use of `global`. I would consider correcting this function to make proper use of `$instance` in this function. Currently its not being used.

I've made the corrections in our installation but it would be nice to see this make the next update release so that future updates to not break our fixes.

Thanks

Hi Trent,

Sorry for too late feedback, but better ever than never :)

Can you to try with development version 2.0.0 http://urosevic.net/wordpress/?wpdmact=process&did=NC5ob3RsaW5r (and same suggestion as for Bill, make database backup before installing development version).

Successfully used YouTube Channel on prior versions of WP, no longer working.
What happens now is if I install the widget and then add it to my sidebar and simply put in the titleYouTube and my Channel ID it will work. If I then make a change like check box for random or any other change I end up with a 500 Internal server error when the blog loads. I can still manage on the admin to remove the widget and the blog will load again without error.

This is a fantastic plugin and I've been getting great use out of it. Just have a quick question.

I'm using Wordpress 3.6 and using the 1.5.1 update for the plugin. It doesn't look as though I can get the playlist option to work. It either pulls only the channel, or will list "No Items" if I try to do the playlist.

Was wondering what I'm doing wrong here.

Hi Aleksandar,

I just wanted to make you aware of something I found in your plug-in that you may want to consider adjusting. We uploaded a video to our YouTube channel about an hour ago, and it was not populating in the feed using your plug-in, with settings to grab the two latest channel videos.

I looked around for more information about this and found an article on the YouTube API Blog called "Keeping Things Fresh": http://apiblog.youtube.com/2012/03/keeping-things-fresh.html

It explains: "... some [api feed] requests go against our search index, which has cached data, while other requests retrieve data directly from our backend databases, which always contain the most up-to-date data... If your request only includes the max-results and/or start-index query parameters, then it should go against the backend database and the results will be fresh... If your request contains other parameters, there’s a good chance it will end up against the search index. Some common parameters that will always trigger a search are q and orderby."

Given this knowledge, I took a look at your plug-in file code (youtube-channel.php), and found on line 211 that the plug-in is including the "&orderby=published" setting by default. And as it appears there is no way to turn this setting off via the widget interface, I just tried commenting out that line.

One that line is commented out, the latest video (posted in the past hour) shows up in the feed immediately.

I'm just pointing this out for you in case you wish to consider adjusting your plug-in code to accommodate users who wish to have instantaneous feed updates, rather than wait for the search index to pick up new videos. Please let me know if you have any plans to change the plug-in or offer an option to control this without having to modify the plug-in core as I have.

The plug-in is otherwise great. Thanks!

This plugin is fantastic! There are many different ways you can use it if you get creative. I created 3 different playlists on youtube - one for Music, local events, and local sports. Then I search youtube for relevant videos and add them to one of my playlists. What you end up with is a list of your favorite videos that you can use on your web site.

Then I placed a Youtube Channel widget on each page - music, news, and sports - and have it play a random video from the appropriate playlist. Now you have fresh content all the time, relevant to the content of the web page.

Important Note: There seems to be a problem with the latest version 1.5. When used with Wordpress 3.5.1 it breaks the widget admin page. I confirmed this by activating the Twenty Twelve theme with Youtube Channel 1.5 as the only active plugin. The widget page loads but is unresponsive. Downgrading to 1.4 solved the problem.

Thannks for a great plugin...
