Unreal Tournament III: mouse problem solved

Read this!] Pucačinu Unreal Tournament III kupio sam negde u vreme kad sam klincima kupio novi računar (prošlogodišnji novogodišnji poklon), u paketu na igračkoj mreži Steam za neke sitne pare, tipa 7-8 €. Igra je na Windows 7 32bit funkcionisala kako treba sve do kraja januara kad je odjednom prestalo da radi upravljanje mišem.

Dakle, simptomi su sledeći:

• mišem može da se kreće kroz menije i da se izabiraju stavke menija
• mišem u toku meča može da se puca (levi i desni taster)
• mišem u toku meča može da se menja oružje obrtanjem točkića
• kad se sa Esc pozove meni u toku meča mišem može da se kreće kroz meni i izabiraju stavke menija
• u toku meča mišem ne može da se upravlja „pogledom“ levo/desno i gore/dole

Prvo sam pokušavao da pronađem rešenje problema po zvaničnim forumima Steam i UT3, isprobavao savete da se promeni osetljivost miša, uklanjao konfiguraciona podešavanja za ulazne uređaje (UTInput.ini) i sve datoteke za korisnika iz MyDocuments/MyGames/UT3/UTGame/Config, proveravao valjanost datoteka igre, dva puta reinstalirao igru od nule, čak isključio i senku kursora u kontrolnom panelu operativnog sistema, probao nekoliko različitih miševa, reinstalirao sam i drajver za grafiku NVidia, više verzija, čačkao VSync ali ništa od toga nije pomagalo. Na posletku sam čak postavio i pitanje na forumu „Sveta kompjutera“, ali bez uspeha.

Povremeno proguglam nadajući se da je neko negde rešio problem, ali se nadanja brzo sruše. Pokušam i danas da pronađem rešenje, ali opet ćorak.

I sasvim slučajno padne mi na pamet da probam sa isključivanjem Comodo antivirusne zaštite. Desni klik na ikonicu Komodoa u sistemskoj kaseti → Defense + Security Level → Disabled, pokrenem igru, uletim u meč i… juuuhuuu! Pogled se vrti kao prvog dana!

I bought game Unreal Tournament III at beginning of this year, in some Steam sale, for about 7-8 €. The game has worked on Windows 7 32bit until the end of january this year, and then error occurs – moving with mouse stopped to work.

So, issue is something like this:

• I can navigate menus and select menu items with mouse
• I can shoot in game with mouse in game (left and right mouse key)
• In the match I can switch weapons with mouse wheel
• when I press Esc key to get menu in game, I can navigate menu and select menu items
• When match is in progress I can’t look left/right and up/down with mouse

First of all I tried to find solution at official Steam and UT3 forums, applied suggestion about mouse sensitivity, deleted game settings file (UTInput.ini) and all files from user game directory MyDocuments/MyGames/UT3/UTGame/Config, checked game files consistency, two times fully reinstalled game, even disabled cursor shadow from Control panel, changed couple mouses, reisntalled driver for NVidia graphics card, more than one version, tweaked VSync, etc. but nothing of that not helped. On the end I posted question to „Computer world“ forum, but w/o success.

On some day in month I googled for this problem solution, but I only got empty shoot. Same tried today, but, nothing, again.

And I got weird idea to try with disabling Comodo AV. Right click on Comodo icon in Systray → Defense + Security Level → Disabled, run the game, start match and… YESSS! It’s a live!
